Integrative & Functional Psychiatry
A dedicated service line for whole-person psychiatric care.
For patients who want more than a diagnosis and a prescription — a complete clinical track built around root-cause thinking, extended time, and a treatment plan that reflects the full picture of your life and health.
What this service line includes
This is a dedicated clinical track — not just a longer initial appointment. It begins with a comprehensive 120-minute evaluation and continues with 50-minute extended follow-up visits as the standard cadence, giving every visit enough time to go beyond symptom review and into the broader picture of how you're doing.
Functional & Integrative Psychiatry Evaluation
An extended in-depth evaluation covering psychiatric history, root-cause factors, lifestyle and physiology, and a personalized treatment plan that may include medication, lifestyle changes, or both.
Extended Follow-Up Visits
All follow-up visits within this service line are scheduled as extended 50-minute appointments — not the standard 25-minute follow-up. This is the default cadence for this track, not an upgrade.
Not just what diagnosis fits these symptoms — but what is actually contributing to them, and what a genuinely individualized plan looks like for this person.
How this differs from standard psychiatric care
General psychiatric care at Harborlight Psychiatric already takes an integrative approach — this service line goes further, structuring the entire course of care around that philosophy from the first visit forward.
- 60-min comprehensive evaluation
- 25-min standard follow-up visits
- 50-min extended follow-ups available when needed
- Integrative thinking applied throughout
- Ideal for most new patients
- 120-min evaluation with deeper root-cause focus
- 50-min extended follow-ups as standard
- Structured around whole-person care from visit one
- For complex histories or patients wanting this depth
- Ideal when more time and depth is the priority
The 120-minute evaluation is a single session that goes meaningfully beyond a standard psychiatric intake.
What's included in the evaluation
- Full psychiatric, medical, and family history with time for depth and follow-up
- Root-cause exploration — what may be contributing to your symptoms beyond a diagnosis
- Discussion of lifestyle, physiology, and life context alongside your symptom picture
- A personalized treatment plan that may include medication, lifestyle changes, or both
- Unhurried time to ask questions and think through your options together
- Coordination with your therapist, PCP, OB-GYN, or other providers when relevant
A note on scope
An integrative approach informs how we evaluate and build your treatment plan. It does not replace the need for psychiatric evaluation, and it is not a substitute for emergency or crisis care. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.

- Are comfortable with 25-min follow-ups once care is established
- Would prefer to start with standard care and reassess
- Are primarily looking for medication management only
Is this the right track for you?
The standard care track is an excellent fit for most new patients. This service line is for a more specific kind of need.
FAQs
-
No. Medication remains an important and often necessary part of treatment. A functional and integrative approach means medication is used thoughtfully and in context — alongside, not instead of, a broader understanding of your health.
-
Yes. If you're already established in standard care and want to transition to this track, reach out and we'll discuss whether it's a good fit and how to make the switch.
-
Yes. The 50-minute extended follow-up is the standard visit length for this service line, billed at $450 per visit — the same rate as the extended follow-up in our general care track.
-
Related, but distinct. Functional medicine is a broader framework. We apply root-cause and integrative thinking specifically within psychiatric care — within the scope of psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
-
Reach out before booking. We're happy to talk through your situation and help you figure out the right starting point.

Harborlight Psychiatric is a private pay practice, which means we don't bill insurance directly. We made this choice deliberately: it lets us spend real time with patients, make clinical decisions without an insurance company weighing in, and offer more flexibility in scheduling and care than a typical in-network practice can.
